Lucía Aleñar Iglesias (1993) is a Spanish film director and screenwriter. She studied Film Production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and Screenwriting at Columbia University. Before directing her own films, she gained experience working in production and casting. Her breakthrough came with the short film “Forastera” (2020), which explores themes of identity, grief, and family. The film premiered at the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival and was later shown at numerous festivals around the world. “Forastera” was also nominated for a Gaudí Award. Building on the success of her short, she directed her first feature film, also titled “Forastera” (2025). Her work is known for its introspective tone, delicate visual language, and focus on femininity, intergenerational relationships, and the blurred lines between memory and imagination.
