To mark its 30th edition, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival has opened three exhibitions.
The exhibitions, which look back at the festival’s history, are on display at Telliskivi Creative City, PÖFF’s year-round home.
“Stars in the Night” pays tribute to PÖFF’s guests through 20 portraits spanning the festival’s history, beginning with its first edition in 1997, when the arrival of Finnish film legend Aki Kaurismäki caused quite a stir. Among the celebrated figures captured on camera are Philip Glass, Peter Greenaway, Neil Jordan and Michael Nyman.
“Even we were surprised by just how many renowned guests have attended PÖFF,” said festival director Tiina Lokk at the exhibition’s opening.
The exhibition is open in Telliskivi Creative City’s outdoor gallery until the end of the year.
“30 PÖFFs. 30 Posters. 30 Stories" brings together all of the festival’s posters for the first time, telling a story of growth, creativity and the courage to stand out. The latest addition is a poster created especially for PÖFF’s anniversary by animation director and artist Priit Pärn. Guests at the opening received signed copies as gifts.
The exhibition is open on the third floor of Telliskivi 60a/2, which also houses PÖFF’s headquarters.
“30 PÖFFs, 30 Years of Stories, Thousands of Films and a Million Memories” captures the festival’s atmosphere through moments that have shaped its history. The photographs range from premieres and celebrations to everyday festival life and scenes behind the curtain.
The exhibition is open at the Kolme Puu outdoor gallery.
“Stars in the Night” and “30 PÖFFs. 30 Posters. 30 Stories” were created in collaboration with Telliskivi Creative City. “30 PÖFFs, 30 Years of Stories, Thousands of Films and a Million Memories” was produced in partnership with Comdecor, which has helped bring PÖFF’s visual identity to life and create its distinctive atmosphere at festival venues for many years.
The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival takes place from 6–22 November and is presented by Elisa and Nordic Hotel Forum.
