Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) internship program for 2026 edition is now open for applicants. Opportunities range from marketing and translation to television content production. The application deadline is May 14.

This year, there are nearly 20 different opportunities available across 13 depatments. Internship positions are offered in marketing, event production, the development department, translation, as well as working with volunteers and film guests. In addition, you can challenge yourself by creating podcast content and exclusive interviews for the Discovery Campus of the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, which is aimed at film industry professionals. Sub-festivals PÖFF Shorts and Just Film are also welcoming interns.

This year marks the fourth edition of the PÖFF internship program. “We are pleased to see that the internship program has proven to be so popular. Last year, we had over a hundred interns across different departments. Our goal is to offer high-quality internship opportunities to students who are interested in seeing behind the scenes of organizing a world-class film festival,” says internal communications coordinator Hanna-Liina Einard.

PÖFF welcomes interns from university students, vocational school students, as well as participants in the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund’s work practice program. Applications are open until May 14, and all candidates will be contacted no later than June. The internship period begins between August and November, depending on the position. There are also roles where, if desired, interns can complete their internship during the summer. If positions remain available, an additional application round will take place in August.

PÖFF Administrative Manager Mikk Granström encourages everyone interested to apply: “The aim of the PÖFF internship program is to bring new people into the festival who might, in the future, become involved in organizing film festivals. It is also an excellent opportunity to see behind the scenes of a major event and develop yourself in a truly diverse environment.”

If you are not a university or vocational student, nor a participant in the Unemployment Insurance Fund’s work practice program, but still wish to join the PÖFF “wolf pack” and take part in the festival atmosphere, you can join our dedicated team of volunteers in the autumn.

The Black Nights Film Festival is one of the largest film festivals in Northern and Eastern Europe and is also internationally recognized, belonging to the top 15 A-category film festivals in the world. During the festival weeks, the PÖFF team—together with volunteers, interns, project-based, and year-round staff—grows into a “wolf pack” of nearly 700 people.

Applications for internships are open until May 14. More information is available on the official PÖFF website.
