Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) internship program for 2025 edition is now open for applicants. Opportunities range from marketing and translation to television content production. The application deadline is May 14.
This year, more than 30 internship positions are available across 14 different fields. Roles include marketing, communications, event production, ticket sales, translation, and work with volunteers and international film guests. Interns can also gain hands-on experience by creating content and exclusive interviews for the festival’s special media channel, PÖFF TV. Additional internship opportunities are offered within the sub-festivals PÖFF Shorts and Just Film, as well as Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, which caters to film industry professionals.
Now in its third year, the internship program has grown in popularity. “We’re happy to see such a high level of interest in the program,” says internal communications coordinator Hanna-Liina Einard. “Last year, we received over 200 applications, with 82 successful candidates.”
The program welcomes university students, vocational school students, and participants interested in work practice through the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund (Töötukassa). The application period runs until May 14, and all applicants will be contacted by June. Internships begin between August and November, depending on the position. In some cases, internships may also be completed during the summer. If there are still available roles, an additional round of applications will be held in August.
PÖFF’s administrative director Mikk Granström encourages everyone interested to apply: “The goal of the internship program is to bring new talent into the festival, who might go on to become part of organizing future editions. It’s also a great chance to see behind the scenes of a major cultural event and to grow in a truly diverse environment.”
For those who are not students or Töötukassa participants but still want to experience the festival atmosphere, PÖFF welcomes new volunteers every autumn.
The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is one of the largest film festivals in Northern and Eastern Europe and holds international prestige as one of only 15 A-category film festivals worldwide. During the festival weeks, the PÖFF team—comprising volunteers, interns, project-based staff, and year-round employees—expands to a 700-strong "wolf pack."
Applications for internships are open until May 14. More information is available on the official PÖFF website.
