The fourth edition of "Dr. Sander's Hour of Horrors" brings audiences Mart Sander's latest films, three of which will have their world premieres!
"Creakin'" is a collection of three ultra-short horror films, each story beginning with a creaking sound in the night.
"Circus Macabre" is Sander's ambitious philosophical disaster spectacle, created using hyper-realistic AI animation. Both films will have their world premieres at HÕFF.
"The Killing Art" is an ultra-short horror film that premiered at the Tampere Film Festival in the under-one-minute category.
"Tallinn in Flames" depicts a moonlit night in 1944, when Soviet bombers turned Tallinn into a burning labyrinth of fire and ash – attacking the capital of a country that was not even at war. Through restored images and lived memory, the film reveals how a single night of imperial violence continues to echo as a warning to the world today. The film won the Audience Choice Award at the International Documentary Film Festival in Tbilisi.
"The Rose Key" is a film adaptation of Mart Sander's play, which premiered successfully last year. When an eccentric countess agrees to an interview with a dubious newspaperman, the shadows of the past stir-and neither will escape their grasp. Intended primarily for television, this intimate and claustrophobic thriller is based on real events. The film will have its world premiere at HÕFF 2026.
