Contact Lens
Getting rid of your contact lens as a way of breaking free. The most (hypnotically) fascinating film in Rebels.
Everything is blurry; a young woman puts on her contact lenses and everything takes shape. Accustomed to a dull life, an iconic character from a seminal film, omniscient in her small space, inspires her to go out into the world. Our protagonist enters into a playful dialogue with the totemic screen as she goes about her routine, proposing a subtly comic game to the audience. They are led suggestively through the loops, walking with her, encouraging her to break free and leave the small apartment as a metaphor for women’s emancipation.
Meanwhile, the film transcends its boundaries, transforming the image into a fluid, feminine essence, revealing its multifaceted nature in a timeless space. If you dare to play the game, you will find yourself crossing the mirror... and setting yourself free.
